Meet the Team behind ColdTech Systems.

CJ Sawyer

Founder & Field Systems Author — ColdTech Systems

CJ is a systems-first field technician and resilience operator who has spent decades making infrastructure work in places most people only read about.

His career path spans rugged and unforgiving environments — from serving in the military to leading drilling operations in exploration and oil fields, to managing and maintaining a 100-site RV park at 7,000 feet in the Southern Colorado Rockies. In that high-altitude, high-winter playground, every system — water, power, sewer, heat — carries consequences when it fails.

That experience taught him two things:
Failures are never random, and most of them are preventable with the right systems and methods.

Before ColdTech Systems, CJ founded TundrCore Resilience Group, a consultancy dedicated to hardening critical infrastructure in remote, extreme environments. Whether it’s freeze-proofing water distribution, designing redundancy into off-grid power, or troubleshooting a frozen hydrant at midnight, his work is rooted in real conditions, real risks, and real outcomes.

ColdTech Systems exists to document what actually works when winter stops being a season and becomes a test. Every guide and checklist here is drawn from field experience — not speculation, trend content, or theory — with the goal of helping others live and work where cold is a constant variable.

If it’s written here, it’s because it’s been proven in the field.

Why ColdTech Exists

ColdTech Systems is dedicated to documenting what survives winter so you don’t have to learn the hard way.

Tre Sherrod

Tre is a systems-minded field technician and resilience operator with many years of experience keeping critical infrastructure working in challenging environments.

His career has taken him through rugged, high-consequence environments, from first-response environmental recovery work in extreme weather, to maintaining infrastructure across manufacturing facilities and complex maintenance operations.

Across those years, Tre has developed a practiced eye for spotting failure patterns and potential catastrophes before they surface.

He has led maintenance teams in unforgiving landscapes, stabilized systems others had written off, and built a reputation for solving problems where conditions are harsh, margins are thin, and the cost of guessing wrong is measured in real-world consequences.
